Wavelength - The Television and Radio Charity

We provide those who are most vulnerable, lonely, isolated in their homes, in need of financial and practical support, with companionship, comfort and contact.

For over 70 years we have been providing help to those who can benefit most from the contact, comfort and companionship technology can bring into the home.

We look to challenge the root causes of loneliness and isolation and to represent our beneficiaries’ needs at national level. Due to our expertise we sit on a number of advisory groups that influence government policy, but many know us best for providing televisions and radios to those for whom isolation and loneliness is a real problem.

Today, televisions and radios are so much part of our lives it is easy to think that everyone in the UK can have one. However, our beneficiaries are on such low incomes that they cannot afford a TV or radio, especially when trying to cover other essentials such as food and heating. Our beneficiaries are those who are confined to their homes for reasons out of their control. They are those affected by severe health problems or impairments that prevent them from taking a more active part in their communities. For the isolated and lonely, televisions and radios provide a lifeline.
