Wavelength - The Television and Radio Charity

WaveLength's mission is the use of technology to relieve isolation and loneliness

Currently we do this by supplying beneficiaries with televisions and/or radios. All our equipment is provided by national companies, who discreetly deliver equipment directly to the beneficiary and help with installation. The equipment remains the property of WaveLength, but is on long term loan to the beneficiary for as long as s/he needs it.

We supply a range of televisions, radio and CD players. We can supply digital radios if necessary. As well as providing equipment, our office is a welcome source of guidance and support for many of our beneficiaries.

We believe we have a duty of care to our beneficiaries, so in exceptional circumstances we may be able to give help with an aerial or first television licence. (Please note that we do not supply television licences for people who are not beneficiaries.) All the equipment we provide is covered by a warranty or long-term maintenance agreement.

WaveLength also advises a number of government bodies, working to ensure that the voices of vulnerable people are not lost in the digitalisation of the media. We are members of the Consumer Expert Group and of Ofcom’s Consumer Forum for Communications, and our views are often sought in the course of government inquiries.

I would like to thank you all very much for the television. Before, I couldn't get Channel 4 very well - now I have a wonderful television. My eyesight is not good, so I have to sit quite close to the set. Thank you once again - I am at last very happy
