Wavelength - The Television and Radio Charity

Our aim is to relieve isolation and loneliness through the use of technology.

Currently we do this by supplying those we support with a choice of television and/or radio.

All our equipment is provided by national companies who discretely deliver the equipment directly to the recipient and help with installation.

The equipment remains the property of WaveLength but is on long term loan to the recipient for as long as they need it.

All the equipment is covered by a warranty or long term maintenance agreement.

Currently we supply a range of televisions as well as radio/CD players. We can supply digital radios if necessary.

We believe we have a duty of care that means that for some of those who are already in receipt of our equipment, we may be able to give help with an aerial or first television licence. (Please note that we do not supply television licences for those who are not beneficiaries.)

As well as providing equipment, our office is a welcome source of guidance and support for many of our beneficiaries.

WaveLength also advises a number of government bodies and works to ensure that the voice of vulnerable people is not lost in the digitalisation of the media.

We are members of the Consumer Expert Group, Ofcom’s Consumer Forum for Communications and our views are often sought in the course of Government Inquiries.

I would like to thank you all very much for the television. Before, I couldn't get Channel 4 very well - now I have a wonderful television. My eyesight is not good, so I have to sit quite close to the set. Thank you once again - I am at last very happy
