Become a referee
As a small organisation whose aim is to put the maximum funds into helping people throughout the UK we have always been reliant upon individuals who help us find, refer or support people making applications.
A Referee should be independent of the potential beneficiary. They might be someone who is known to the applicant, but not related.
A Referee may also be somebody working or belonging to a community-based or professional organisation, such as a Social Worker, volunteer with a charity, member of a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme, member of a recognised religious congregation or Community Association etc.
Ideally a Referee will have long term contact with those they are making applications for as from time to time we do check to ensure that equipment we provide is still in use. We do not expect referees to be responsible for the equipment, but it is useful to have links in the communities we look to assist.
We recommend beneficiaries do not act as Referees for other potential beneficiaries, but support our work by alerting others who may be able to benefit.
