Wavelength - The Television and Radio Charity

Barbara lives on her own. Her ability to leave her home is severely restricted by asthma, emphysema and arthritis. As a result, she can feel very isolated. Barbara was referred to us and we provided her with a digital television.

Felicia was a dance teacher, but following an accident her life was completely changed and she finds it difficult to get out and about.

Susie and Kirsty share a house in Harrogate. The house is owned by Henshaws Society for Blind People and provides assisted living accommodation.

As digital televisions have steadily replaced analogue this year, WaveLength has been watching how people are adjusting to the new technology. Mr O’Brien lives in sheltered accommodation in London and his mobility is restricted by his arthritis so television forms his window on the world.

Jim, 73, has lived all his life in the beautiful but remote Highlands. His life last year was devastated in one sudden blow when his home burnt down.
